2010 Reboot Retreat Schedule announced.

Time off. Taking a break. Going on sabbatical. These phrases describe a growing need among those of us in the working world. The need for a break from work may be motivated by a desire to reset the balance in our lives, follow a creative dream, make a difference, give back to society, or explore something different. Or it may be driven by job burnout, disillusionment with our careers, or a life-changing event like death of a loved one, illness or divorce. The sabbatical need not be long. Some people take a year, but it can be a couple of months.

For many - especially in this economy - job loss has created a forced break. We plunge ahead, looking for another job, often without realizing that this might be the perfect time to purposefully take time off from work. Being out of work can be a major opportunity to boost your life and career by taking the time to refresh, reevaluate, and reframe.

Taking such a break means giving oneself the gift of time. But most of us don’t know how to do it. Or we feel we can’t. Or we think we need permission. Fears about not finding the next job, not having enough money, being out of the “game” or reconciling one’s self-image keep many of us from expanding our horizons.

This website is designed to provide advice, ideas and support about the hopes and needs of people who find themselves - either by choice or circumstance - on the special journey of a reboot break. You can visit our blog to read about issues and stories and to make your own contributions to the growing community. Watch for updates about articles, white papers, and retreats. We also provide consulting services for individuals, corporations, and other organizations.

The website is hosted by the Sabbatical Sisters, four women who have taken beneficial reboot breaks in their own professional lives, and more recently have interviewed over 100 people and numerous corporations in preparation for writing a book on the benefits of time off from work. From our own experience and our extensive research, we know that everyone is better off for having taken a reboot break. Won't you join us by exploring the website or joining in on our blog?
